Helena Milman (“Lena”) first joined the firm of Forrest L. Ingram, P.C. on November 12, 2007, after clerking here since December 2006. In November 2009, after working as a full-time attorney employed by the firm, Lena and another lawyer started a new law firm, Elan Law Group. Even though Lena has started a new law office, she is continuing to represent clients of this firm as “of counsel.”
Having worked as a litigation paralegal for nine years prior to clerking at Forrest L. Ingram, P.C., Lena was ready to “hit the ground running” when she first came on board. She had clerked for the City of Chicago, Buildings and Land Use division, where she developed an insight into the prosecution of zoning laws in the City of Chicago. Lena also clerked for the Illinois Attorney General, Civil Rights Division, Disability Rights, where she focused on the enforcement of Americans with Disabilities Act in the industrial and residential construction areas.
Lena’s attention to detail and keen interest in bankruptcy law contributed to her success in shepherding two chapter 11 cases (New Mount Olive and Thomas Mechanical, Inc.) to confirmation in 2009 and two more cases (Ark of Safety and BMW Construction, Inc.) to confirmation in 2010. She also participated vigorously in the confirmation of the Brook Architecture chapter 11 case in 2009. As “of counsel” to the firm, Lena continues to contribute to the Firm’s successes in confirming chapter 11 cases.
Lena is a member of the Chicago Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association, and an active alumna at the John Marshall Law School. Lena is also on the Board of Directors of the Federal Bar Association, Chicago Branch.
